Death is one of those things that everyone deals with in a different way. Depending on how close you were to the person and how they passed away also plays a huge a factor in how people cope with different things. Death is something that I have experienced quite often in my life. Both my paternal grandma and grandpa have passed away as well as my mom's aunt. When my grandmother and aunt passed away I was young ad it didn't really affect me too much. I understood that they passed away and I was sad that I wouldn't be able to see them anymore, but I adjusted pretty quickly. However, when my grandfather passed away I was a sophomore in high school. I was really close to him and his death was very unexpected. I remember being in shock and feeling numb when I first heard the news. Death is something that I don't think anybody is ever really ready for regardless of how old you are. There is no manual that says how you should and shouldn't cope with loosing someone you love. It is very important to seek help however if you find that you cannot deal with it on your own. It is okay to ask for help when things get tough."The Lord moves in mysterious ways."(125) I never understand why God takes the people we love away from us. It is hard to accept that we will never see them again and we can never call them on the phone to hear their voice. Although it is hard to accept, we have to understand that everything happens for a reason. God does not give us anything more than we can handle and more than we can bear. God is always here for us and will never leave us!"There's no mystery! He killed himself" (125)
Suicide is something that is always a hard topic to talk about. It is always such a touchy topic and is something that should never be taken lightly. I have never had someone close to me who has committed suicide, but I feel for anyone who has. I always wonder what it was that took them over the edge or made them decide to end their life. There are so many factors that can go into someone deciding to end their life. That is why it is always so important to treat everyone you meet with kindness and compassion. We never know what inner battles people are facing and what they are going through. "He couldn't face living in this small-minded small town one more second."(125) Sometimes it seems like people don't realize that their words and their actions can have huge consequences on people's lives. I cannot imagine living in a place where the idea of living your truth would cause you to consider committing suicide. This is such a sad reality that unfortunately many people probably go through. "When I think about how my father's story might have turned out differently, a geographical relocation is usually involved." (125) You are truly a product of your environment. Where you grow up can play a huge factor in how you perceive the world, your politic; views, and everything about you really. Where you grow up is a very tricky thing that can be crucial to your development and discovering who you are as a person!
